Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was a child prodigy. This was a very natural trait for a girl from Irish origin, and that was surrounded during her early years by talented family members and parents. Maureen made her entrance into the safe haven of her parents on August 17, 1920 in Ranelagh (a suburb within Dublin), Ireland. Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons was her mom. She was a skilled contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer club in Ireland and ran the Shamrock Rovers soccer club and a Dublin business. Maureen was the second child of six FitzSimons children - Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen enjoyed playing sporting games in her youth and was a pro in athletics. In addition to this she was gifted for acting. She took home almost every Feis Award for Theater and Drama which her nation had to provide. At the age of 14, she was accepted to the prestigious Abbey Theater and pursued her dream of classical theater along with operatic music.
